Hey everyone
Here I'm as your ultimate sunscreen guide to break all the myths about Sunscreens with a list of affordable Sunscreens.

What is a Sunscreen?

A Sunscreen is a skin care product known to act as a shield for preventing the skin from the harmful sun rays..It comes in various forms like gel, emulsion, cream and powder.

Why it is important to use a Sunscreen?

The harmful sun rays can damage your skin causing skin cancer, tanning, irritating, etc..Hence it is important to use a Sunscreen daily (indoors and outdoors) irrespective of the weather to prevent the skin.. It's important to use Sunscreen even when you are inside because UVA rays can penetrate all types of glasses which is known to cause ageing, tanning and also damages DNA..UVB rays cause pigmentation and tanning.

What SPF means?

SPF is sun protection factor.. Sunscreens usually have a number printed like SPF 30, SPF 50, etc..The number 30 denotes that the Sunscreen lasts for 300 minutes on the skin and similarly SPF 50 denotes 500 minutes and so on..A minimum of SPF 30 is required to use on a daily basis and SPF 50 for entire day under the sun.

What does PA and plus signs denote?

It denotes protection from getting tanned..There is a maximum of 4 + signs which is the best..For daily wear and good amount of protection, choose Sunscreens with at least 3 + signs.

How to use a Sunscreen?

After preparing your skin with a moisturizer, apply some generous amount of Sunscreen on all the visible exposed regions like face, ears and neck.. Sunscreen goes away due to sweating, wiping, etc so it's really important to reapply the Sunscreen..They take time to settle and protect so don't step out as soon as you apply your Sunscreen..Take a gap of at least 20 minutes.. Reapply your Sunscreen every 3 to 4 hours once..If you have your makeup on, use powder based Sunscreens.

What type of Sunscreen to use?

If you have oily skin, then use emulsion type Sunscreen which is not so creamy..Gel based Sunscreens can also be used for oily type skin..If you have acne prone skin, then definitely choose gel Sunscreen which gives a mattifying effect
If you have sensitive and dry skin, use cream based Sunscreen.. cream based Sunscreen also suits older skin type
For applying over hands and legs, you can use spray Sunscreen
